Spaghetti Sauce Recipe

I made some spaghetti  for dinner recently. It is a recipe I know by heart. I do use a mixed spice called Pizza blend that I love for pizza sauce to. Contains: dried onion, garlic, oregano, anise seed, rosemary, bell peppers and basil. The smell of the anise seed reminds me of my childhood in Southern CA. Brings back wonderful memories every time I smell it.

Spaghetti Sauce

1 can of diced tomato's or (2 diced large Tomatoes)
1 can of tomato sauce or (4 large Tomatoes skinned, seeded and pureed)
1 T. cornstarch
1T. Pizza Blend spice from www.sfherb.com or Italian herbs combined ( Sometimes I will use 3/4 tsp. dry Oregano, 3/4 tsp. dry Thyme, 3/4 tsp. dry crushed Rosemary, 3/4 tsp. dry crushed Basil instead of Pizza Blend Spice.)
1/8-14 tsp. red pepper flakes. I also found on www.food.com a good recipe called Pizza spice blend.

(optionals) 1/4-1/2 lb. cooked ground meat or sausage, and  some diced/sliced vegetable like carrots, bell pepper, olives, mushrooms Summer squash.

This sauce will serve 3 over noodles.

You can add a can or more of tomato sauce to serve more people. Then use 1/2 T. (1 1/2 tsp.) of Pizza blend spice/Italian herbs per can added. Adding more optionals extend to.
Put this in a medium pot and mix. You must always mix your cornstarch in room temp. or cold liquid before heating otherwise it will clump. I know from making this mistake myself. Now you can heat the sauce on medium on stove top. Then keep it low to simmer. Stir occasionally to keep from sticking to bottom and you may want to put a lid on top to keep the heat and sauce inside. It can pop tomato bubbles at you, beware.

Now you can cook your noodles of choice. 2 oz. uncooked noodles is one serving. If you are watching you calories/ waist line. A small food scale helps me.

I have put in ground Turkey which my husband does not like. Will have to get hamburger next time. also added one small carrot sliced it with my porcelain handheld slicer.
